  • Page 2: Introduction These are the terms and conditions on which we supply products to you, whether these are goods, services or digital content. If you set up a Hive account or use any Hive product you accept these terms and conditions. The protection of your personal information is important to us. We respect your privacy and want you to understand what we do with the information we hold about you. We recommend that you read our Privacy Notice to understand how we collect and use your personal data and your data protection rights. Centrica Hive Limited is the data controller of your personal data. We, us or our means Centrica Hive Limited (trading as Hive). Our products and services are only intended for use in the UK. We take any complaint seriously and we’ll do our best to resolve the issue right away. Referring your complaint to the CDRL does not affect your statutory rights. Please see the General exclusions section to find out what we are not responsible for.
  • Page 3: Our contract with you Our acceptance of your order will take place when we send an email to the email address you give us to accept your order. If we cannot accept your order, we’ll contact you to let you know why. We have a legal duty to supply products that comply with this contract. Nothing in these terms will affect your legal rights. If you bought your Hive product directly from the Hive website, you can have certain rights of cancellation. You can cancel your order and get a full refund if we fail to deliver the product within 30 days. The law requires that goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. In respect of the Hive app, the law requires that digital content must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. In relation to any services, the law requires that services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill.
  • Page 4: Most Hive products require a Hive Hub to work. To use Hive products, you’ll need a domestic broadband connection with sufficient bandwidth, Wi-Fi, and a spare Ethernet port connection. You’ll also need an Android or iOS device with an up-to-date operating system to monitor and control your Hive products via the Hive app. To be eligible for Hive Active Heating, you’ll need a working central heating system. The Hive Active Heating kit consists of a thermostat and a receiver for use with the wireless thermostat. Hive Multizone is for when you have more than one existing heating zone in your home. Hive Multizone allows you to control different heating zones in your home from the Hive app. To be eligible for Hive Multizone, you’ll need Hive Active Heating and a suitable central heating system with separate heating zones controllable by a zone valve. Hive Multizone is designed to cover up to six heated zones in your home. If installed in more than six zones, this may impact the Hive Multizone system performance.
  • Page 5: Cameras and audio monitoring devices are advanced remote monitoring tools that send notifications and record when triggered. The devices use algorithms to detect people, motion, or sounds but are not perfect. Hive Hub 360 can detect specific events like breaking glass or smoke alarms. The Internet is used for notifications, and there may be delays in delivery. The device is not a replacement for personal vigilance, and privacy should be respected. All materials and parts purchased are guaranteed for one year from setup. The guarantee covers faults in materials provided but not unrelated faults in other systems. The guarantee does not affect statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If you buy a Hive product without installation, you are responsible for its installation. Incorrect installation may lead to costs or damages for which Hive is not responsible. Professional installation is recommended for certain products, and you must ensure an adequate gas supply to your property.
  • Page 6: Arranging installation If you have bought a product that includes professional installation, please contact us to book an installation appointment. We agree to carry out the work to install and provide your Hive product on these terms and conditions. If you bought a Hive product with professional installation included from one of our retail partners, you’ll need to book your installation online. Please note that we cannot arrange for installation of Hive products in certain regions. We’ll confirm an installation appointment time to install your Hive product. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that there is an adequate gas supply and an eligible gas central heating system in your home. Engineers will only work in your home if there’s someone 18 years old or older present during the visit. There’ll be an extra charge for any changes or additional work which you ask for. We won’t pay any compensation if we’re unable to complete the installation during the appointment. The engineer will take reasonable care to carry out the installation without causing unnecessary damage to your property.
  • Page 7: Dismantling existing fixtures and fittings may cause damage and certain areas may need redecoration after installation. The engineer won’t start or continue work if there’s a health and safety risk, such as hazardous chemicals or pest infestations. If asbestos needs to be removed, you’ll need to arrange and pay for its removal and provide a clean air certificate. Tenants may need their landlord’s permission to install Hive products. We won’t be responsible if you don’t have your landlord’s permission. If our work is faulty, we’ll carry out the work again free of charge within one year. This guarantee only applies to materials we provide and work we carry out. This guarantee doesn’t affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. You can cancel the service at any time and will stop receiving that service. Our services are subject to withdrawal or variation at any time.
  • Page 8: Features Hive Heating Plus helps control heating spend and monitor heating efficiency. Available to all Hive customers, it offers benefits like a savings tracker and heating efficiency alerts. Savings targets are estimations based on previous energy consumption and home profile. Ongoing warranty The warranty applies to all Hive products, excluding discontinued items. Products must be paired with the Hive Hub to be covered by the warranty. Faulty products during the subscription will be repaired or replaced free of charge. Limitations The guarantee applies only to provided products and does not cover unrelated faults. Subject to fair use; abuse may affect repair or replacement eligibility. Consumer rights The guarantee does not affect statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Discount on purchase of Hive products A 10% discount is available for direct purchases of Hive products. The discount does not apply to subscriptions and cannot be combined with other offers. Free delivery Hive Heating Plus includes free first-class delivery on Hive products over £50. Next day delivery incurs an additional charge. SMS notifications Customers can opt for SMS notifications for alerts, subject to fair use. High alert volumes may result in a change to push or email notifications.
  • Page 9: Termination of the Hive Heating Plus subscription results in loss of service features and warranty coverage. Cancellation also prevents access to discounts and SMS notifications until payment is made. Hive HomeShield monitors your home and sends notifications via the Internet upon detecting unexpected activity. The service only monitors areas where devices are installed correctly and functioning. Internet issues may delay notification delivery, and actions taken in response are your responsibility. Call outs or support related to notifications are not included in the Hive HomeShield service. To receive notifications, you need a Hive account, the Hive app, installed devices, an always-on Wi-Fi network, and an active subscription. Hive HomeShield is a smart alarm system that connects devices for home security control via the Hive app. The warranty applies to Hive products associated with the HomeShield service and is limited to specific devices. The warranty does not cover certain products, battery replacements, or items not included in the Hive HomeShield dashboard.
  • Page 10: If any qualifying Hive product develops a fault during your Hive HomeShield subscription, then we will repair or replace it free of charge. This warranty does not include the installation of repaired or replacement products, which will be your responsibility. This warranty doesn’t affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and any laws that replace it. We’ll give you a discount of 10% when you buy any Hive product direct from us, being a device or accessory. You will also get free delivery by first class Royal Mail on all Hive products and accessories you buy. Please note that Hive HomeShield may be limited to the number of cameras depending on your plan, being one, two or an unlimited number. Hive HomeShield works with certain Hive devices, which may be standalone products that connect by Wi-Fi or may be added to your existing Hive system. The Hive HomeShield service and devices are for personal and domestic use only at a single residential property. The Hive devices are not certified by Underwriters Laboratories or any equivalent certification and may not be accepted by an insurance company as adequate evidence of damage or loss to support an insurance claim. We use the Internet to receive the triggers and to send notifications to you – we’ll do our best to keep our infrastructure running but there may be instances which prevent or delay notification delivery or performance of any service.
  • Page 11: Termination If you cancel your Hive HomeShield or fail to make payment when due, you will no longer receive the features and benefits of that service. You will lose the app functionality of Hive HomeShield and certain service features. You won’t be able to access any discounts or receive SMS notifications until payment has been made. Hive Video Playback Membership Hive Video Playback Membership gives you access to the features and benefits set out here. The access to these features and benefits will last for as long as you continue to make your monthly or annual payments. 30-day camera history We’ll give you rolling 30-day camera history with Hive Video Playback for each of your Hive View cameras, depending on your plan. Ongoing warranty This warranty applies to your Hive View camera(s) that are working and visible on your Hive account. If any Hive View camera develops a fault during your Hive Video Playback Membership, then we will repair or replace it free of charge. Discount on purchase of Hive products We’ll give you a discount of 10% when you buy any Hive product direct from us. Free delivery by first class Royal Mail on all Hive products and accessories you buy. Number of cameras supported Hive Video Playback Membership may be limited to the number of cameras depending on your plan.
  • Page 12: Please note that the system performance and quality of livestreaming and recordings history will depend on your broadband speed at your property, and if you have multiple cameras installed, you accept that this may impact the availability and quality of livestreaming. If you cancel your Hive Video Playback Membership or fail to make payment when due, your 30-day camera history will stop rolling and will revert to 24-hour camera history. You will no longer have access to your 30-day history, and your Hive View camera(s) won’t be covered by the ongoing warranty. Hive EV Charging is a service that allows you to control your Hive supported EV charger from the Hive app. To use Hive EV Charging, you’ll need a Hive supported EV charger. Hive EV Charging will provide you with transparency, flexibility, and visibility when using your EV charger. You’ll need a Hive supported EV charger connected to the internet, a Hive account, and an Android or iOS smartphone to receive alerts. We will not be responsible for any costs, loss, or damage caused by your EV charger or its installation. You will be able to use all features of Hive EV Charging whilst the warranty on your EV charging station remains valid.
  • Page 13: Use your EV charging station in offline mode only. You need to pay for your Hive products at the time you buy them. You can buy Hive HomeShield products as one of our packs or make up your own. If you’re buying a HomeShield pack with professional installation and choose to take out a payment plan, you agree to make 12 payments. You must pay your first monthly payment at the point of purchase. If you or we cancel in the first 12 months, the remaining balance of your payment plan will become payable. You must spend a minimum of £250 and a maximum of £1,200 on a Hive HomeShield pack to take out a payment plan. We’ll send you an email confirming your payment arrangement after you’ve ordered a service. Your monthly payments for new services will be merged with your existing monthly Hive service payment. If there are any changes to the credit or debit arrangements, you must let us know at least ten working days in advance.
  • Page 14: If your payment fails for any reason, we will contact you and make further attempts to take payment. If we do not receive payment within 28 days of the date when the payment was due, we may suspend or cancel your agreement and any service you have will cease. All Hive products are sold for personal and domestic use only and must not be resold. Our Hive products and services are only intended for use within the UK and should not be used outside of this area. Everything we write to you, including terms and conditions, will be in English. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of whichever country your property is in, i.e. England and Wales or Scotland. Nobody other than you can benefit from, or enforce, these terms and conditions. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation. If any section of these terms is found to be void or unenforceable by a court, only that section will be removed, and the rest of these terms shall continue to apply. You must not reverse engineer, decompile, adapt or alter the object code used to provide the services or any Hive product itself, unless expressly permitted by law.
  • Page 15: Transferring ownership of your Hive Hub requires resetting the device. This process ensures that personal data is removed. The new owner will not gain access to your Hive account or any associated data. There is no ongoing warranty provided for the new customer.
  • Page 16: If you move to a new home and want to install Hive products, please contact us for further assistance. We may change any Hive product to reflect changes in relevant laws and regulatory requirements or to implement technical adjustments and improvements. These changes will not affect your use of any Hive product. The images of the products on our website and packaging are for illustrative purposes only. We are responsible for any foreseeable loss or damage you suffer due to our failure to comply with these terms and conditions. We don’t exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. If we are providing services in your property, we will take reasonable care to carry out any installation without causing unnecessary damage. We shall not be responsible for any faults that were already present when your products were installed. If defective digital content we supplied damages your devices, we’ll either repair the damage or pay you compensation. We won’t be liable for damage which you could have avoided by following our advice.
  • Page 17: Business losses We only supply Hive products for domestic and private use. If you use the products for any commercial, business or re-sale purpose, we will have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity or any other losses. Unrelated supporting equipment We won’t be responsible for replacing the batteries in your Hive products. We are not responsible for the broadband internet connection to your home. We are not responsible for providing a smartphone, computer or internet browser that is compatible with Hive products and services. General exclusions We are not responsible for any costs, loss or damage that you or anyone else suffers as a result of not using any Hive products or services in line with our instructions. We are not responsible for problems caused by your or anyone else’s smartphone, computer, internet browser or internet connection. We advise you to keep your log-in details secret and to use PIN protection on your smartphone to prevent unauthorized use of your Hive system. We cannot guarantee that the Hive products and services will prevent any unauthorized entry to your home or will prevent any personal injury or loss. We are not responsible for any death or personal injury unless it is caused by our own negligence.
  • Page 18: The Hive website, app, and services may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance. You can still control your heating manually using the thermostats in your home. These exclusions do not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If you use a Hive product in a way that makes you the controller of personal data, you must comply with data protection law. We will process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws. In the event of a personal data breach, we will notify you without undue delay. You agree to provide us with sufficient notice and cooperation regarding data subject requests. We cannot provide copies of video recordings; they are only available through the Hive app. You are entitled to cancel this agreement and request a refund within 14 days of receiving your Hive product. If you cancel after requesting installation, we may charge reasonable costs for any work carried out.
  • Page 19: If you want to cancel a payment plan for a Hive HomeShield pack, you must return all the products comprising the pack in order to receive a refund. If you bought your Hive product from one of our retail partners, you should contact the store you purchased it from. You must return the Hive product in accordance with the retailer’s returns policy. If we fail to deliver the product within 30 days of you placing your order, you can cancel your order and get a full refund. We can cancel your agreement if you don’t make your monthly payments.
