age, disconnect electric power to system, at main
fuse or circuit breaker box, until installation is
complete.
Do not exceed the specification ratings.
All wiring must conform to local and national electrical
codes and ordinances.
Do not short out terminals on gas valve or primary
control to test. Short or incorrect wiring will burn
out heat anticipator and could cause personal
injury and/or property damage.
This control is a precision instrument, and should be
handled carefully. Rough handling or distorting compo-
nents could cause the control to malfunction.

Failure to read and follow all instructions carefully before installing or operating this control could cause personal injury and/or property damage. This low voltage thermostat is designed to operate with the White-Rodgers 8A18Z-2 evaporative cooler control. The thermostat subbase has a system switch that lets you select vent, cool, or off positions. The fan switch offers the selection of low or high fan speed. If in doubt about whether your wiring is millivolt, line, or low voltage, have it inspected by a qualified contractor. To prevent electrical shock and/or equipment damage, disconnect electric power to the system until installation is complete. Do not exceed the specification ratings. All wiring must conform to local and national electrical codes. This control is a precision instrument and should be handled carefully to avoid malfunction. This product does not contain mercury, but may replace a unit which does.
- Page 2: Installation instructions for the thermostat include routing wires from the cooling equipment to the thermostat location and pulling them through the wall. Excess wiring should be pushed into the wall and the hole plugged with fire-resistant material to prevent drafts. The subbase must be fastened loosely to the wall using mounting screws, leveled, and then tightened securely. The thermostat base should be attached to the subbase, ensuring all captive screws are tightened for electrical connections. Care should be taken when securing and routing wires to avoid short circuits, which may cause personal injury or property damage. All wiring must comply with local and national electrical codes and ordinances. The operation section describes the system and thermostat function during various modes, including cooling and vent modes. In cooling mode, the pump relay and fan timer relay are energized by the thermostat, initiating water circulation and fan operation. The fan speed can be adjusted based on the switch position, affecting the operation of the fan and pump. The document includes a trademark notice for Emerson Electric Co.
