- Page 2: Contractor firmware update process involves connecting the thermostat to Wi-Fi and registering to the customer's account to ensure the thermostat has the latest firmware release. Installation requires compatibility and wiring considerations for the Sensi thermostat. Conventional system connection details include power for cooling, heating, and common wire specifications. Heat pump system connection outlines the necessary wiring for various stages of heating and cooling. The Y terminal is for the first stage of cooling and the first stage of heat and cool (compressor). The W/E terminal is designated for the first stage of heat and second stage heat or dehumidifier. The G terminal is used for the indoor blower (fan) in both conventional and heat pump systems. The O/B terminal is for heat pump changeover (reversing valve) connection. The L terminal has no function but is noted for connection in the Sensi smart thermostat.

- Page 4: Configuration – Setting humidification/dehumidification control capability on/off Wireless setup connects thermostat to Wi-Fi network. Fahrenheit or Celsius options available. Outdoor equipment configuration includes cooling or heat pumps. Indoor equipment configuration for gas or electric heat. Reversing valve position selects “O” or “B” setting for heat pumps. Circulating fan options range from OFF to 100% in 5% increments. Humidification settings include accessory options and set points. Dehumidification options include optimal dehumidification and comfort settings. Wireless radio can be turned on or off.
- Page 5: Humidification control at the thermostat requires ensuring HVAC settings are single stage. To set up a wired humidifier accessory, configure the HVAC settings for single stage first. If the thermostat is configured for multi-stage, humidity control options won't be available in the menu. To set up wired humidification, press Menu and then press Next seven times. Use the Up Arrow button to toggle Humidity On and change the set percentage to your desired level. For wired dehumidification, press Menu and then press Next eight times to find the dH AA menu. Toggle Dehumidity On and change the set percentage to your desired level. Press Exit after making changes for both humidification and dehumidification. Ensure to check the specific settings based on your thermostat model. Follow the steps carefully to maintain desired humidity levels.
- Page 6: Humidification control in the Sensi app. Adjusting the humidity features from the Sensi app can be done after initially turning the feature on in the thermostat menu. Open the Sensi app and tap your thermostat name. Tap the settings gear and then tap system settings. Scroll to the humidity control section to toggle the humidification features on/off and adjust the set percentage. If you don't have wired dehumidification configured, you will have a different dehumidification option available. This option will use your cooling system to remove moisture from the air by overcooling your space up to 3 degrees.
- Page 7: Frequently asked questions When can I get the firmware OTA update for humidity control? OTA updates are pushed via Wi-Fi after being registered to the customer's account on the Sensi app. Which versions of Sensi thermostats are compatible with humidity control? Sensi Touch (1F95U) and Sensi (1F87U) smart thermostats are all backward compatible. What terminals should I use to enable humidity control? Use Y2/* for humidification and W2/* for dehumidification. What types of humidifiers and dehumidifiers are supported? Dehumidifiers: HVAC systems with dehumidify mode or 24VAC dehumidifiers. What is an appropriate humidity setpoint? Depending on the outdoor temperature, the ideal indoor humidity level is between 30-50% RH. What is overcooling to dehumidify? The dehumidification feature allows Sensi to overcool to a maximum of 3⁰ below the AC setpoint. Why is my system unable to reach my humidity setpoint? Your humidifier or dehumidifier may not be able to increase or decrease humidity enough to reach your setpoint depending on the size of your equipment.
