  • Page 2: Installation Battery location 2 AA alkaline batteries are included in the thermostat at the factory with a battery tag to prevent power drainage. Remove the battery tag to engage the batteries. To replace batteries, set system to OFF, remove thermostat from wall and install the batteries in the rear along the top of the thermostat. Thermostat installation and all components of the control system shall conform to Class II circuits per the NEC code. Remove old thermostat A standard heat/cool thermostat consists of three basic parts: the cover, the base, and the switching subbase. Before removing wires from old thermostat, label each wire with the terminal designation from which it was attached. Disconnect the wires from the old thermostat one at a time. Installing new thermostat Pull the thermostat body off the thermostat base. Connect wires to terminal block on base using appropriate wiring schematic.
  • Page 3: Home screen description includes room temperature, day of week, set temperature, and time of day. The UP/Down buttons are used for modifying the set point and navigating the menus. The fan switch enters comfort temperature settings into the schedule. The menu key allows access to different modes such as cleaning, configuration, set time, and set schedule. The battery level indicator shows the current power level of the batteries. A Change Filter reminder appears when the system has run for the programmed filter time period. The System On indicator shows when heating or cooling is energized. Hold Until indicates the end time of a temporary hold period. Cool Savings display indicates the feature's status in the installer menu. Call For Service indicates a fault in the heating/cooling system.
  • Page 4: Installer/configuration menu To enter the menu: Press the Menu touch key. Press and hold for 5 seconds the Installer Config touch key. This displays menu item #1 in the table below. Selects Multi-Stage (MS 2, No Heat Pump), Heat Pump 1 (HP 1, 1 compressor), Heat Pump 2 (HP 2, 2 compressor or 2 speed compressor), or Single Stage. System switch configuration in non heat pump mode. Selects Energy Management Recovery, E (with programming option on). Selects Adjustable Anticipation, cycle rate, Heat. Selects °F/°C Display (temperature units in Fahrenheit or Celsius). Selects Keypad Lockout. Fast second stage of heat (not available if SS1 is selected above). Selects Change filter feature.
  • Page 5: Installer/configuration menu This control can be configured for various system types. Select continuous backlight to improve display contrast in low lighting conditions. Select backlight intensity with options for high and low. Select temperature display adjustment to modify the room temperature display. This control can be configured for 7 independent day programming or non-programmable modes. Select °F or °C readout based on user preference. Select audio prompting (beeper) on or off. Select automatic schedule for programming a comfort temperature. Energy management recovery (EMR) allows early heating or cooling to reach setpoints. Select cool savings™ to adjust setpoint temperature during high demand periods.
  • Page 6: Heat temperature limit range adjusts the highest setpoint temperature for heat. The default setting is 99°F, changeable between 62°F and 98°F. The fast cool feature provides the same controls when the setpoint temperature is lowered. Cool temperature limit range adjusts the lowest setpoint temperature for cool, with a default setting of 45°F. Select remote temperature sensor allows connection of one wired remote temperature sensor, indicating measured temperature. Keypad lockout allows selection of lockout type or limited range security. Local temperature sensor disable is applicable only when indoor remote temperature sensor is enabled. Select dual fuel feature and setpoint is applicable only in heat pump modes, requiring an outside remote sensor. Select compressor delay sets a delay for compressor shutdown after auxiliary stage is energized, factory set at 60 seconds. Select change filter run time displays a reminder to change or clean the air filter after a set time of blower operation. The keypad lockout combination number selection allows setting a security feature for the thermostat.
  • Page 7: Operating your thermostat Manual operation (bypassing the program) Programmable mode Choose the fan setting (Auto or On or Prog) Fan Auto runs the fan only when the heating or cooling system is on. The HOLD feature bypasses the program and allows you to adjust the temperature manually. Program override (temporary override) Press the SYSTEM button to select Heat, Off, Cool, or Auto. Auto changeover is used in areas where both heating and cooling may be required on the same day. Set current time and day. Automatic daylight saving calculation adjusts the clock for daylight savings time.
  • Page 8: Programming tip: Copy program When programming your thermostat, you may copy the program from one day to another day or group of days using the Copy key. In 7 day programming mode, a day can be copied to another day or all six other days. In 5/1/1 day programming mode, the weekday program can be copied into Sat and Sun or either Sat or Sun. To use Auto Schedule, press Run Schedule to be sure you are in normal operating mode. In Heat mode, the thermostat will maintain your “Comfort Temperature” during the Morning, Day, and Evening periods and setback 6° for the Night. The “Comfort Temperature” can be temporarily overridden by changing the setpoint temperature using the keys. In the Set Schedule mode, the FAN key is used to select the fan operation during a program period. The default state of the Fan key is FAN Auto (fan runs during a call for cool but not on a call for heat). In the Run mode, pressing the FAN key will change the fan from Auto to On or Prog. When programming is complete and all of the times and temperatures match your desired heating schedule, press Run Schedule.
  • Page 9: Energy saving factory pre-program The 1F95-1277 thermostats are programmed with energy saving settings for all days of the week. If this program suits your needs, simply set the thermostat clock and press the RUN button. The table shows the factory set heating and cooling schedule for all days of the week. You can eliminate two program periods in the configuration menu if the building is occupied all day. The 1F95-1277 comes configured for 7 day programming and can also be configured for 5+1+1 programming. If you are re-programming a 5+1+1 day schedule, pencil in your own times and temperatures directly below the factory times. In heating, lower temperatures will save energy. In cooling, higher temperatures will save energy. If you plan on using auto changeover, do not program the heating higher than the cooling.
  • Page 10: Programming Wired remote temperature sensing allows for one remote sensor to be installed indoors or outdoors, connected to the thermostat with a maximum cable length of 100 meters. The thermostat must have a 24 VAC Common connection to terminal C for the remote sensor to operate. The remote sensor can be enabled or disabled in the Installer/Configuration menu. When the remote sensor is selected Off, no remote sensor is enabled. When the remote sensor is selected On, users must choose between indoor or outdoor settings. The average temperature displayed can vary based on the weight selected for the sensors. In normal operation, the display will alternate between the time and the remote temperature. The thermostat can monitor outside temperature when configured for Heat Pump mode with an outside remote sensor. The dual fuel temperature setpoint can be set between 5 and 50, with a default setting of 5 disabling the feature. The current temperature displayed will be the weighted average of the local and remote sensors.
  • Page 11: Troubleshooting Reset operation: When the thermostat is reset, installer configuration menu settings and programming will reset to factory settings. If a voltage spike or static discharge causes erratic thermostat operation, reset by removing wires from terminals R and C and batteries for 2 minutes. If the thermostat does not function correctly after resetting, contact your heating/cooling service person or place of purchase. Common problems for no heat/cool/fan include a blown fuse, tripped circuit breaker, or a furnace power switch turned off. For no heat, check if the pilot light is lit or if the furnace is in a lock-out condition. Diagnostic for heating: Set SYSTEM switch to HEAT and raise the setpoint above room temperature to check for a soft click sound. For no cool, ensure the cooling system requires service or the thermostat needs replacement. If the thermostat thermometer setting disagrees with the actual temperature, it can be adjusted +/- 4 degrees. The location of the thermostat and size of the heating system may influence the cycle rate. To unlock the thermostat, press and hold the menu button for 20 seconds.
