PRO1 T731W Wireless PTAC Non-Programmable Thermostat Installation Guide Overview

Summary of Contents

  • Page 1: Installation tips suggest placing the thermostat 4 to 5 feet above the floor in an area with average temperature and good air circulation. Avoid installing the thermostat near hot or cold air ducts, in direct sunlight, or with an outside wall behind it. Do not place it in areas that do not require conditioning or where there are dead spots or drafts. A trained, experienced technician must install this product. The temperature of the installation location should represent the building's overall temperature. Carefully read the instructions to avoid damaging the product or creating hazardous conditions. Disconnecting power before installation is crucial to prevent electrical shock or equipment damage. The product is mercury-free, but if replacing a mercury-containing product, dispose of it properly. For vertical mounting, use one screw on the top and one on the bottom; for horizontal mounting, use one screw on the left and one on the right. Battery installation is optional if the thermostat is hardwired; high-quality alkaline batteries are recommended for optimal performance.
  • Page 2: Base module mounting tips include recommendations for placement to optimize wireless communication. The base module is designed to be mounted behind the front grille of a packaged terminal air conditioner (PTAC). The range between the thermostat and the base module is up to 100 feet with no obstructions. The low battery indicator appears when AA battery power is low, and if not replaced, the thermostat will default to specific setpoints after a certain period. Do not mount the module inside the cabinet of the unit or in a metal enclosure. Electrical hazards are present, and power must be disconnected before installation. When replacing a thermostat, note the terminal connections as they may not be color-coded. Do not overtighten terminal block screws to avoid damaging the terminal block. Place nonflammable insulation into wall openings to prevent drafts. Recommended module locations include just inside the cabinet near the open bottom or on the underside of the top of the cabinet.
  • Page 3: Caution: Electrical hazard. Failure to disconnect the power before beginning to install this product can cause electrical shock or equipment damage. The thermostat and Base Module come factory linked out of the box. The base module must be hardwired (C & R terminals connected to 24V power). Use shielded or non-shielded 18-22 gauge thermostat wire. Most PTAC systems support two speed fan operation. The thermostat must be set to O or B to match the changeover valve. Tech settings must be transferred to the base module. The swing setting is adjustable and dictates how frequently the system cycles on and off. A swing setting of 0.8˚ will turn the cooling on at approximately 0.8˚ above the setpoint and turn it off at approximately 0.8˚ below the setpoint.
  • Page 4: Technician Setup Select Gas (GS) for applications. EL = Electric for thermostat control. This setting protects the compressor from “short cycling.” When ON, the compressor will turn on after a 5-minute delay. Set a maximum heat setpoint temperature. Set a minimum cool setpoint temperature. Select the terminal to operate the medium speed fan. The display light can be configured to stay on permanently or only when a key is pressed. View the strength of the wireless signal. When turned on, the thermostat will operate a heat pump.
  • Page 5: Establishing a connection between the thermostat and the base module is essential for communication. The base module’s LED indicates the status of the wireless network. Green blinks at 3 seconds signify normal operating mode with all devices connected. Yellow blinks at 3 seconds indicate that one or more remote devices are not reporting. Red blinks at 3 seconds mean that all network devices are not reporting. White blinks at 3 seconds show unpaired mode, meaning the base module is powered but not paired to any remotes. To pair the base module, press the button next to the LED, and it will begin double blinking pink for 2 minutes. On the thermostat, press and hold the light button for 3 seconds to pair with the base module. To unpair, hold the button next to the LED on the base module for 6 seconds, which will delete all connected devices. The thermostat's operating ambient temperature ranges from 32°F to +105°F (0°C to +41°C).
