Quick Guide
OpenTherm Modulating Control is a method of control used by modern heating systems. Instead of
switching a boiler on and off at intervals, modulating control allows the amount of heat provided by the
boiler to be controlled to match the varying demand from the thermostat. This means the customer has
greater system efficiency, energy saving and room comfort from our heating controls.

SALUS RT520TX Thermostat User Guide Overview

Summary of Contents

  • Page 1: Button functions include MENU, SELECT, UP, DOWN, ON, OFF, AUTO, MANUAL, and BOOST. The RT520 and RT520RF are the latest additions to SALUS’ RT range of thermostat heating controls, offering cost-effective solutions for optimum efficiency and maximum heating comfort. OpenTherm Modulating Control allows the boiler's heat output to match varying demand, enhancing system efficiency and energy savings. Before use, it is important to read the manual carefully. The thermostat requires two AA 1.5 V alkaline batteries and should be installed by a qualified person. Safety information includes using the device as intended and keeping it in dry conditions. The product complies with essential EU directives regarding safety and electromagnetic compatibility. The RT520 thermostat features a larger LCD display and additional operational functions compared to previous models. The device will power up after inserting the batteries, and users can select their preferred language. The technical specifications include temperature range, accuracy, and dimensions of the thermostat and receiver.
  • Page 2: RT520TX thermostat pairing with the receiver is already done if using the RT520RF pack. During the pairing process, ensure the thermostat and receiver are at least 1 meter apart. Landlord settings allow the landlord to set a service reminder for the tenant. TPI is a self-learning, time-proportional algorithm that ensures economical system operation. The pairing process takes up to 10 minutes, and the LED on the receiver will go solid red once paired. Optimum Start saves energy by firing the boiler for the minimum required time to achieve the set-point temperature. Optimum Stop calculates how long the house will take to cool down and turns off the boiler at the earliest possible moment. To reset the thermostat, press MENU, DOWN, and BOOST simultaneously for 5 seconds. Once service mode is active, the device will lock the set point temperature as set by the landlord. Landlord settings will not be reset during a factory reset.
