  • Page 6: The MTC 40 is a radio-controlled thermostat set that monitors room temperature and controls heat sources. The MTC-40 thermostat measures room temperature and regulates it based on set values. It features two automatic weekly programs, each with six switching times per day. Manual temperature regulation is also available. The display includes background lighting for visibility. The thermostat is easy to use with pre-set parameters for infrared heaters. It has integrated feet and is wall mountable. Open window recognition enhances energy efficiency. The MTC-40 receiver has a switching capacity of 6.3 A / 230 V AC / 1449 W Max. The receiver is only suitable for use with a marmony marble heating plate.

  • Page 9: Installation instructions for the transmitter include removing the battery cover and inserting two alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity. It is important not to use rechargeable batteries. The battery should be replaced when the battery symbol is illuminated on the display, and old batteries must be disposed of according to local regulations. The thermostat can be secured on the wall using a screw or a hook after removing the feet. Assembly tools are not included in the delivery. The thermostat is ready for date and time settings after installing the receiver into the socket.
  • Page 10: Installation The display must be switched on to change a setting. The display switches itself back off again after 15 seconds. When programming a setting, the thermostat switches back to the main menu after 30 seconds if no input is entered. Anything entered will be saved automatically. You should carry out the programming rapidly.

If the receiver is operated without a thermostat, the thermostat/transmitter must be switched off. Switch off the display fully by pressing the ON / OFF button on the thermostat for 3 seconds until the display switches off.
  • Page 12: Installation Connect the receiver to the 230 V socket intended for the marmony infrared heater. Connect the connector plug on the marmony infrared heater to the receiver socket. In factory settings, both the transmitter and the receiver are connected to each other. The receiver waits for commands from the transmitter or thermostat. Manual connection of the transmitter and receiver can be done if needed. Press the ON/OFF button on the receiver to activate it. The thermostat enters ON/OFF mode when the display lighting is on. Press the “- button” until “TEST” appears in the programme row of the display. Press the ON/OFF button on the receiver for 3 seconds to establish the connection. Exit the connection mode by pressing the ON/OFF button on your thermostat.
  • Page 13: Settings After inserting the batteries, the thermostat is in OFF mode. Press the SET / OK button for 3 seconds to start setting the year, month, day, hour, and minute. The date and time setting process is now complete. Additional entries for the CONSTANTS are not necessary. The CONSTANTS are displayed and “CONST.” is illuminated in the programme bar. Change hysteresis: The pre-set hysteresis value of 1.0 °C should not be changed. When the TARGET temperature is reached, the thermostat switches the heater off. The hysteresis value can be changed from 1 °C to 5 °C. Recommended setting for marmony infrared heaters is “1.0 °C.”
  • Page 14: Settings for constants are displayed at the top left. The value 1 is flashing and must be confirmed with the SET / OFF button. This value is not relevant for marmony infrared heaters and should not be changed. The recommended setting for marmony infrared heaters is 1. The open window function is indicated by open and a flashing 1. This pre-set value must also be confirmed with the SET / OK button. The thermostat saves the entered values and returns to the previous ON / OFF mode. The open window recognition function is designed to increase energy efficiency. If the room temperature drops by approximately 2 °C within 5 minutes, the thermostat switches the heater off. Heating mode is reactivated after 30 minutes if the window remains open to prevent frost damage.

AUTO P1 / P2 refers to holiday mode and date/time settings. The + / - button allows for programme selection in ON/OFF mode and value entry during programming. The START button activates the selected programme, indicated by a flashing programme row. Key lock or parental control can be activated by pressing the LOCK button for 3 seconds, displaying a padlock symbol. The ON/OFF button manually switches off the heater, with the display showing ON or OFF. The green LED indicates the heater is on, while the red LED indicates it is off. To fully switch off the thermostat/heater, press the ON/OFF button until the display turns off. Pressing the ON/OFF button again will switch the thermostat back on.

The symbol row features symbols for heating, frost protection, holiday, parental control, transmission display, and battery empty. The display for the following programmes are located in the programme row: AUTO, MANU, OFF, CONST, TEST. In ON or OFF mode, you can switch forwards or backwards by pressing the + or - button in the menu. By pressing the start button, you can activate the selected menu. Deactivate the menu by pressing the ON/OFF button. The menu options include AUTO P1, AUTO P2, TEST, HOLIDAY, and MANUAL mode.
  • Page 17: Operation with thermostats and manual mode allows for temperature control. In manual mode, a target temperature can be set between +5 °C and +39 °C. To set manual mode, ensure the thermostat is in ON/OFF mode and activate display lighting. Select manual mode by using the “+/-” button and pressing the START button. Avoid selecting manual mode when the suitcase symbol (holiday mode) is displayed. Set the desired target temperature using the “+ or -” button. The flame symbol indicates that heating mode is active. The receiver will switch on the infrared heater when heating mode is engaged. To exit manual mode, press the “ON/OFF” button to turn off the heater. A connection between the thermostat and receiver is established every 15-30 seconds to conserve battery.
  • Page 18: Automatic temperature control “AUTO” allows setting different programmes for each day of the week. You can set up to 6 switching and switching off times for each programme. The thermostat regulates room temperature independently based on selected settings. Available weekday groups include individual days, weekdays, weekends, and all days. Creating a group applies the same switching times to each day, overwriting any individual settings. An individual day in a group can be reprogrammed without affecting the other group days. To set the AUTO P1 programme, ensure the thermostat is in ON/OFF mode. Switch on the display lighting with a short press on any button. Use the “+ / - buttons” to select the AUTO P1 mode. The display shows “AUTO” in the programme row and “P1” in the middle row.
  • Page 19: Press the “SET / OK” button for 3 seconds. Select an individual day or a day of the week group using the + / - buttons. Make the selection by pressing the “SET / OK” button. Use the “+ / - button” to select the desired room temperature. Select the desired hour for the switching on time. Press the “SET / OK button” to confirm the switching on time. Use the “+ / - button” to select the desired minute for the switching on time. Follow the same steps to enter the additional switching on and off times for U3 to U6. After the final entry for “U6”, the thermostat saves the entries independently. Press the “START button” to activate “AUTO P1” mode.
  • Page 20: If you only wish to set one to five switching on and off times, wait until the thermostat switches back to the main menu for the values to be saved automatically. The setting process for “AUTO P2” takes place in the same way as for “AUTO P1”. In the activated “AUTO mode”, you can change the desired “TARGET” temperature manually at any time. For times for which you have not created a target, the thermostat switches to the 19 °C factory setting. You have the option of programming the thermostat for a longer absence, such as a holiday. You can set a start time and end time for the holiday as well as the desired room temperature. While you are away, the thermostat regulates the desired temperature and returns to the selected program after your holiday. To set the holiday programme, the thermostat must be in ON / OFF mode. Use the “+/- buttons” to select the desired MANU mode and press the “SET / OK button” for 3 seconds. Use the “+/- button” to select the desired “TARGET” room temperature during your absence and press the “SET / OK” button to confirm.

  • Page 22: Frost protection is activated automatically if the room temperature falls below 3 °C in OFF mode. The thermostat switches to heating mode until the temperature rises to +12 °C. If the thermostat is completely switched off, frost protection is not activated. In ON / OFF mode, TEST mode can be accessed by pressing the + / - button until TEST appears. Pressing the START button will alternate ON / OFF on the display, allowing for a functional test of the connection between the thermostat and the receiver. If the receiver does not respond, manual pairing may be necessary. The battery symbol indicates that new batteries (2 x AA / LR6) should be inserted promptly. Only alkaline batteries should be used; rechargeable batteries are not recommended. Used batteries must be disposed of according to local regulations.
  • Page 23: Daylight saving time / standard time changeover: The thermostat automatically switches the daylight saving time / standard time on or off. On 24th March at 23:59, the time is moved forwards by an hour. On 28th October at 23:59, the time is moved backwards by an hour. Conformity information: The manufacturer confirms that this device complies with the fundamental requirements and the other relevant provisions: Directive 2014/53/EU, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU. Technical data: 2 x 1.5 V AA alkaline batteries are required for power supply. The type of communication is high-frequency power with one-way communication ASK at 433.92 MHz.
