Danfoss RET 230 Manual: Questions and Answers

How do I set the dead-band on a Danfoss RET?

Use DIL switch 3 on the rear of the unit.

1. Remove the wallplate from the back.
2. Locate DIL switch 3.
3. Set to DB 2°C/4°F for a 2K dead-band, or DB 4°C/8°F for 4K.
4. Refit the thermostat to the wallplate. Instruction Manual, p. 4

How do I install the Danfoss RET 230 on my wall?

Mount it at approximately 1.5m height, away from draughts and heat sources.

1. Remove the wallplate from the back of the unit.
2. Ensure minimum 50mm clearance above and 100mm below for the plug-in module.
3. Fix at roughly 1.5m from the floor.
4. Avoid mounting near fan-coil outlets, sunlight or office equipment. Instruction Manual, p. 4

Can the Danfoss RET 230 work with a heat pump system?

Yes. Set switch 2 to Heat-pump. The heating valve output is reassigned to the reversing valve, and the compressor signal is reassigned to the relay normally used for the cooling valve. Instruction Manual, p. 7

What is the difference between Chrono and On/Off mode on the Danfoss RET?

In On/Off mode, heating and cooling operate as simple on-off. In Chrono mode, heating works in chrono-proportional cycles while cooling remains on-off. Instruction Manual, p. 7
