  • Page 4: What is a room thermostat? A room thermostat simply switches the heating system on and off as necessary. It works by sensing the air temperature, switching on the heating when the air temperature falls below the thermostat setting, and switching it off once this set temperature has been reached. Turning a room thermostat to a higher setting will not make the room heat up any faster. How quickly the room heats up depends on the design of the heating system, for example, the size of boiler and radiators. Neither does the setting affect how quickly the room cools down. Turning a room thermostat to a lower setting will result in the room being controlled at a lower temperature, and saves energy.
  • Page 5: The heating system will not work if a timeswitch or programmer has switched it off. The way to set and use your room thermostat is to find the lowest temperature setting that you are comfortable with, and then leave it alone to do its job. The best way to do this is to set the room thermostat to a low temperature – say 18°C – and then turn it up by one degree each day until you are comfortable with the temperature. Any adjustment above this setting will waste energy and cost you more money. If your heating system is a boiler with radiators, there will usually be only one room thermostat to control the whole house. You can have different temperatures in individual rooms by installing thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) on individual radiators. If you don’t have TRVs, you should choose a temperature that is reasonable for the whole house. Room thermostats need a free flow of air to sense the temperature, so they must not be covered by curtains or blocked by furniture. Nearby electric fires, televisions, wall or table lamps may prevent the thermostat from working properly.
  • Page 6: LED indicators show the status of the device. Power on is indicated by a green light. Thermostat output on is indicated by a red light. To conserve battery power, the LEDs will illuminate for 5 seconds after the dial is moved. When the battery is low, the power on LED will flash every minute. Replace batteries as soon as possible to maintain control of the heating. To set the temperature, turn the setting dial to the required temperature. For best comfort control, initially set the dial to a lower temperature, such as 18°C. Increase the temperature by one degree each day until a comfortable level is reached.
  • Page 7: Low battery indications for the RET1000B thermostat are important to note. When the batteries require replacement, the power LED will flash once per minute. Batteries should be replaced within 15 days to prevent the thermostat from turning off the load it controls. If the power LED does not illuminate when the dial is turned, the batteries may have expired and should be replaced immediately to avoid damage to the thermostat.
  • Page 8: LED displays Power on – Green (bottom right) Thermostat output on – Red (top left) For RET1000B, the LED lights up for 5 seconds after changing the setting, depending on the status. In normal operation, the thermostat remains functional. When the batteries are low, the power on LED blinks once per minute. Replace the batteries as soon as possible to avoid affecting the heating system control. Setting the temperature Turn the dial to the desired temperature. For optimal comfort, it is recommended to set the temperature initially to a lower level, e.g., 18 °C. Increase it by one degree per day until the rooms reach a comfortable temperature.
Under normale forhold forbliver termostaten i driftstilstand.
