- Page 2: Download the EC Tool Pro App for iOS or Android. The EC Tool Pro App will be used to configure your VTech T961 thermostat to control the PTAC. Create a custom profile for your PTAC. Tap Create, then enter your property name and tap Next. Select the type of PTAC the thermostat will control; PTAC-Conventional System or PTAC-Heat Pump. Tap Next to select the number of stages supported by your PTAC. Tapping save at the end will store your profile. For more information related to creating or managing thermostat profiles, refer to the T961 Configuration Guide. This can be accessed via the app by tapping More > User Manuals.
- Page 3: Mount and wire your thermostat If replacing an old/existing thermostat, carefully remove the cover from your old thermostat and take a photo of the wires while still connected to the old thermostat. Make note of the wire colors that are attached to each terminal. Disconnect the wires from the old thermostat. Verify that your PTAC configuration is set to enable “Wired Thermostat” functionality. Install the thermostat wall plate. Mark the screw positions for the wall plate. Attach the wall plate using your marks as reference. Direct wall mounting with deco plate kit. Mark the screw positions for the deco plate. Attach the deco plate and wall plate. Align the screw holes and secure them to the wall with the provided screws.
- Page 4: Install the thermostat wall plate. Mounting to a junction plate involves attaching the deco plate and the wall plate. Attach the deco plate to the junction box with the provided junction box screws. Push the cover towards the deco plate until it clicks into place. Attach the wall plate to the deco plate with the provided T locks. Route the wires in the junction box through the openings in the centers of the deco plate and the wall plate. Connect the thermostat control wires to the wall plate according to your system type. Wire colors and designations include R for red, C for common, Y/W1 for yellow, and others. For electric heat, jump B to W2 wire at the PTAC wire harness, then connect to Aux/W1. Terminal designations include 24VAC terminal L and N, compressor, and fan speeds.
- Page 5: Connect the thermostat control wires to the wall plate according to your system type. Attach the thermostat to the mounting plate. Swing the thermostat into position by engaging the lugs at the top of the wall plate. Lock the thermostat into place by tightening the 2 Phillips screws located on the bottom edge of the thermostat.
- Page 6: Turn on the power to your HVAC system. When the thermostat powers up, install your saved profile from the EC Tool Pro app into the thermostat. Tap Installation tab, then locate the profile you want to install. Enter your room name and tap Next. Tap Next after previewing the wiring diagram. Select the profile you want to install. Tap Start, then place the NFC area on your phone against the thermostat. Hold your phone steadily until the transfer is complete and the app shows a prompt of success. Test your system to verify functionality and replace the cover if removed.
