This thermostat is designed to control an electric heating system such as a baseboard  

heater, a radiant ceiling, a convector or a fan-forced heater.  

The thermostat CANNOT be used with:  

• a resistive load under 0.83 A  

• a resistive load over 14.6 A  

• a system driven by a contactor or a relay (inductive load)  

• a central heating system.  

WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard.  

This thermostat is a line voltage control (120–240 Volts). Do not install it if you  

are not completely familiar with house wiring. If handled improperly, there is risk  

of electric shock hazard, which may cause serious injury or death.

Supplied parts One thermostat, two 6-32 mounting screws, two solderless connectors. Installation Turn off power to the heating system at the main power panel to avoid electrical shock. All cables and connections must comply with local electrical codes. Install the thermostat about 5 ft. (1.5 m) high, on an inside wall facing the heater. Avoid locations where there are air drafts, dead air spots, or direct sunlight. The thermostat wires are not polarized; either wire can be connected to the load or to the power supply.
• Page 3: Connect the thermostat wires to the power and to the load using solderless connectors for copper wires. Push the excess wires back inside the electrical box. Secure the thermostat to the electrical box using the provided screws. Insert the screws through either the right or left pair of mounting holes on the thermostat. If there is a protective film or sticker on the thermostat’s screen, peel it off. Apply power to the heating system. Verify the installation by checking that the heater can be turned on by raising the setpoint using the Up button and off by lowering the setpoint using the Down button. Keep the thermostat’s air vents clean and free from obstructions.
• Page 4: Clock and day setting Press the Day button to set the day. Use the Hour and Min buttons to set the clock. The clock must be set when the time is incorrect or flashes on the screen. Press the button to exit. • Page 5: Display shows time and day, setpoint temperature, and room temperature. The thermostat indicates if settings are locked and if it is configured for a fan-forced heater. In Automatic mode, the thermostat adjusts its temperature setpoint according to the period of the day. You can program up to 4 periods in a day with different settings for weekdays and weekends. The default schedule includes specific start times and temperatures for Wake, Leave, Return, and Sleep periods. Temporary Override allows modification of the setpoint temperature while in Automatic mode. The new setpoint will be used until the beginning of the next period during an override. Auto flashes on the screen during the override. You can cancel the override by pressing a button. The thermostat displays the set temperature for 5 seconds when the Up or Down button is pressed.
• Page 6: To modify the schedule, press the Pgm button. Each time you press the Pgm button, the thermostat displays one of the periods of the schedule in the following order: Weekdays (MO TU WE TH FR) and Weekend (SA SU). Press the Hour and Min buttons to set the start time of the displayed period. To cancel the period, press the Mode button. Press the Up or Down button to set the temperature. To set another period, press the Pgm button and repeat steps 2 and 3. To place the thermostat in Manual mode, press the Mode button until Man appears on the screen. In Manual mode, any modification to the temperature setpoint must be done manually. To place the thermostat in Away mode, press the Mode button until Away appears on the screen. This mode is a quick way to lower the temperature to a predetermined setting before you go away for an extended length of time. To disable heating, press the Mode button until Standby appears on the screen. In Standby mode, the setpoint temperature cannot be displayed or modified.
• Page 7: The first parameter appears when the menu is displayed. Press the Pgm button for 3 seconds to access advanced settings. To display the next parameter, press the Pgm button. To modify the displayed parameter, press the Up or Down button. To exit the menu, press the button or do not press any button for 1 minute. Temperature unit options are °F / °C, with the default setting being °F. Time format options include 12 hr / 24 hr, with a default of 12 hr. Away temperature is set to 59°F (15.0°C) by default. Daylight saving time can be set to On or Off. Keypad lock can be set to On or Off.
• Page 8: Away temperature allows you to set the desired temperature for Away mode. Daylight Saving Time function automatically adjusts the thermostat on specific dates. Year, Month, Day parameters are available only if Daylight Saving Time is enabled. Early Start feature determines when heating begins to reach the desired temperature at the start of Wake and Return periods. Keypad lock restricts settings changes, allowing only temperature viewing. Most problems with the thermostat require little attention and can be traced to specific issues. If the thermostat is hot, ensure the heater capacity does not exceed its maximum load. Wrong temperature display may occur due to drafts or proximity to heat sources. If the thermostat shows the wrong time, it may have lost power for over five hours. Temperature changes may not occur if the thermostat is not in Automatic mode or if the schedule settings are incorrect.
• Page 9: LO is displayed. The measured temperature is below the display range. Heating is activated. HI is displayed. The measured temperature is above the display range. E1, E2 is displayed. The thermostat performance is reduced due to a sensor error. Resetting the thermostat (default settings). All parameters, except the clock, return to their default settings when the thermostat is reset. During a power outage, the thermostat display remains lit for the first 2 minutes. The settings are stored in memory. If the power failure has exceeded 5 hours, the clock and date must be re-adjusted. Specifications: Supply: 120/240 VAC, 60 Hz. Minimum load: 0.83 A (resistive only). Maximum load: 14.6 A (resistive only). Display range: 32 °F to 99 °F (0 °C to 50.0 °C).
