Multiple programming options that fit your lifestyle:
1. Location-Based scheduling – The thermostat uses your smartphone’s location to know when you’re away, and saves you energy. Through
geofence technology, it senses your return and helps make you comfortable upon arrival. You can always manually change your preset Home
and Away temperature either on the thermostat or on the Resideo app.
2. Smart scheduling – Use a combination of geofencing and time scheduling to fit your busy, active lifestyle.
3. Time-Based scheduling – Program your thermostat for one week; each day (each day is a different schedule); Mon-Fri, Sat, Sun; or Mon-Fri,
Sat-Sun. All days with four adjustable periods per day.
4. No scheduling – Control your comfort manually by adjusting temperature set points only.
Smart Alerts. Push notifications remind you of filter changes and warn you of extreme indoor temperatures.
Smart Response. Learns your heating and cooling system to deliver the optimal temperature at the right time.
Auto Change From Heat to Cool. Automatically determine if your home needs heating or cooling to provide maximum comfort.

Smart scheduling combines geofencing and time scheduling. Time-Based scheduling allows programming for different schedules throughout the week. No scheduling option for manual temperature control. Smart Alerts provide notifications for filter changes and extreme temperatures. Smart Response optimizes temperature delivery based on your system. Auto Change From Heat to Cool automatically adjusts for maximum comfort.
  • Page 2: Read and save these instructions. Tools you will need. Turn power OFF to protect yourself and your equipment. Check that your system is off by changing the temperature on your old thermostat. Remove your old thermostat from the wall plate without removing any wires at this time. Make sure there are no 120/240V wires; if so, the thermostat will not work. Take a picture of how your wiring looks right now for reference. Required: 24 VAC power (“C” wire) is necessary for installation. Remove any jumpers connecting terminals before continuing. Compatibility includes most heating, cooling, and heat pump systems, but does not work with electric baseboard heat or millivolt systems.
  • Page 3: Installing your T5 Smart Thermostat Do not include jumpers as a part of your count. The thermostat does not need jumpers. Write down the color of the wires. Check mark the wires that are connected to terminals. Make sure at least 1/4 inch of each wire is exposed for easy insertion into the wire terminals. S and U terminals are not supported with this thermostat. If there are wires in terminals that are not listed, you will need additional wiring support. It is recommended that you use the wall anchors included in the box to mount your thermostat. If you do not see a C wire, proceed with the options below. Use a screwdriver to release wires from terminals.
  • Page 4: Set the R-switch position and insert R-wire or wires. Attach your thermostat by aligning it onto the UWP and snapping it into place. Set the R-switch up or down based on your wiring notes. Insert wires into the inner holes of the terminals on the UWP. If you have 1 R-wire, set the R-switch to the up position and insert your R-wire into the R-terminal. Turn on the power at the breaker box or switch that controls the heating/cooling system. Return to the thermostat and confirm the screen shows START SETUP. Start setup with the app by touching START SETUP on the thermostat. Do not mount the UWP to the wall prior to connecting the wires. Your thermostat is now ready to be configured using the Resideo app.
  • Page 5: How to use your Resideo App Manual Setup If your Wi-Fi network is not working, you can alternatively setup your thermostat manually and connect your phone later. Start manual setup Touch START SETUP to begin. Select manual setup On the USE APP screen, touch No. Navigate and edit setup options Use or to navigate through all the setup options. Finish Setup Touch until you see Finish Setup. Setup Wi-Fi At the end of the setup process, you will be prompted to SETUP WIFI. Set time and date Set daylight saving time if you are in an area that follows daylight saving time. Your thermostat is now setup Refer to page 5 for more information about basic operation.
  • Page 6: Equipment setup options may vary based on the thermostat model and equipment setup. ISU options include schedule type, temperature scale, outdoor temperature source, system type, equipment type, reversing valve settings, and fan control. Schedule types can be customized, including options for no schedule, individual day settings, and various multi-day schedules. Outdoor temperature data source can be set to internet or no data, which is necessary for certain ISUs. System type options include conventional forced air, heat pump, and boiler. Equipment type selections are based on the specific heating method, such as gas, oil, electric, or fan coil. Reversing valve settings determine whether it energizes on cooling or heating for heat pump systems. Auto changeover can be enabled or disabled, allowing the thermostat to switch between heating and cooling automatically. Auto differential settings define the temperature range required to switch modes during auto changeover. Compressor lockout and aux heat lockout settings optimize energy efficiency based on outdoor temperature.
  • Page 7: ISU Name ISU Options (defaults in bold) Heat 1 CPH (Heating cycle rate stage 1) Cycle rate limits the maximum number of times the system can cycle in a 1 hour period measured at a 50% load. The recommended cycle rate settings are below for each heating equipment type. Heat 2 CPH (Heating cycle rate stage 2) Aux Heat CPH (Heating cycle rate Auxiliary Heat) Smart Response is a comfort setting. Max Cool Temperature from Min. Cool Temp. to 99 °F or to 37.0 °C. Air Filters refer to the number of air filters in the system. Choose either calendar or equipment run time-based reminder for air filter reminders.
