Drill and bit (3/16” for drywall, 7/32” for
plaster)
Remove your old thermostat
TURN OFF POWER at heating/cooling system (or fuse/circuit-breaker panel).
Remove cover and thermostat, but leave wallplate with wires attached.
Leave wallplate in place.
Is there a sealed tube containing mercury?
If so, see mercury notice below.
MERCURY NOTICE
If your old thermostat contains
mercury, contact your local waste
management authority for proper
disposal instructions.

How do I set the heat anticipator on the Honeywell CT50?
Locate the heat anticipator adjustment on the thermostat base and move the arrow to match your system type.
- For steam systems, set to 1.2.
- For hot water heat or warm air high efficiency systems, set to 0.8.
- For warm air standard systems, set to 0.4.
- For electric heat systems, set to 0.3. Owner's Manual, p. 4
Can I use the Honeywell CT50 with a heat pump system?
The CT50 and CT53 are for heating only. Use the CT51 or CT55 model for heat pump or cooling systems. If you have 7 or more wires, you may have purchased the wrong thermostat; call 1-800-468-1502. Owner's Manual, p. 1
What do the System switch buttons control on the Honeywell CT50?
Heat turns on the heating system. Off shuts down all systems. Cool activates the cooling system on CT51/CT55 models. Owner's Manual, p. 5
