Can the Carrier 53DFS250-SL control a heat pump system?
Not without configuration. The thermostat isn't preprogrammed from the factory for heat pump systems. Follow the steps in the Advanced Setup section to enable heat pump control. Owner's Manual, p. 2
How long does Override last on the Carrier 53DFS250-SL?
Each press of the Override button adds 30 minutes, up to a maximum of 4 hours. The next press after reaching 4 hours resets the timer to zero. Owner's Manual, p. 3
What does the Locked icon mean on the Carrier 53DFS250-SL display?
The keypad is disabled. Press and hold Mode, then press Up and Down together to unlock the buttons. Owner's Manual, p. 5
How do I lock the front panel buttons to prevent unauthorized use?
Press and hold Mode. While holding it, press Up and Down buttons together.
- Press and hold the Mode button.
- While holding Mode, press the Up and Down buttons together.

What maintenance does the Carrier 53DFS250-SL require for the fan purge timer?
Set the fan purge timer in Advanced Setup Step 12 to a value from 0 to 3 hours. The fan will run before Occupied 1 begins. Set to 0 to turn the feature off. Owner's Manual, p. 5
