- Page 4: Screen saver starts 45 seconds after inactivity, press any button to wake the screen. Select system mode options include EM heat, heat, cool, auto, and off. Press SELECT to enter the main menu. Use the controls to select the desired mode. Thermostat controls only the heating system in heat mode. In cool mode, the thermostat controls only the cooling system. In auto mode, the thermostat automatically selects heating or cooling based on indoor temperature. Emergency heat mode is for heat pumps with auxiliary heat. In off mode, heating and cooling systems are turned off. Press SELECT to save the mode and return to the home screen.
- Page 5: Change temperature setting. Select fan setting (auto / on / circulate). The fan must be programmed to Fan On in the schedule to run continuously through all events. The temperature setting will take effect 3 seconds after the last adjustment or press select to save and return to the home screen. Press select to enter Main Menu. Use or to select the desired fan mode. Fan runs continuously in On mode for maximum air circulation/filtration. In Auto mode, the fan runs only when the heating or cooling system is on. Circulate mode ensures the fan is on for at least 30 minutes per hour for a balance of energy savings and air circulation/cleaning. Press select to save the fan mode and return to the home screen, or back to exit without saving.
- Page 6: Maintenance reminders indicate when the equipment is due for service. If displayed, call your HVAC dealer for service. Maintenance reminders can be reset in the Settings menu. Event-based air cleaning activates the fan for air cleaning purposes. Air cleaning has two temporary events and three persistent modes. The user can disable access to the thermostat’s features. The air cleaner can run for 3 hours continuously before returning to the previous mode. The air cleaner can run continuously for 24 hours during poor air quality. The thermostat manages fan and air cleaning selections when they overlap. Refer to the User System Settings Table for details on disabling features. Air cleaning options are useful for managing indoor air quality.
- Page 7: Modes Humidifier control (S86N MUPR only, if installed) Auto: The air cleaner will run a minimum of 30 minutes every hour. The thermostat can be configured to control a humidifier in either Automatic or Manual modes. Automatic mode allows setting a range of humidity based on outdoor temperature. Manual mode allows setting and holding a value based on a single set point. Continuous: This option provides maximum air cleaning, active 24/7. Off: The air cleaner will not run the fan for air cleaning. If air cleaning is installed, it will still occur during normal fan operation. Select Humidifier from the Main Menu. From this screen, you can select humidity level adjustment or turn the control on or off. To determine which mode the thermostat is set to, see sections 3a and 3b.
- Page 8: Automatic mode provides optimal humidity to protect your home and furnishings from damage during the heating season. The thermostat adjusts relative humidity based on outdoor temperature to avoid window condensation. In manual mode, anticipate drops and react to increases in outdoor temperature to maintain humidity levels. Use the provided table to determine the proper relative humidity setting, which may need adjustments throughout the heating season. Start with a low humidity setting to determine your home's limits. Adjust the humidity setting to 3, which is within the low-normal range, and monitor for comfort over 24-48 hours. Minor adjustments may be necessary during the coldest days of the first heating season based on window and insulation quality. Once established, the relative humidity should not require adjustments in future heating seasons. Recommended indoor relative humidity varies with outdoor temperature, ranging from 50% at +50°F to 15% at -20°F. Maintaining proper humidity levels is essential for comfort and protection of your home.
- Page 9: If dehumidification is done with the air conditioner, the thermostat will cool up to 3°F beyond the cooling setpoint for dehumidification. The thermostat can be configured to control dehumidification with either a whole home dehumidifier or with the air conditioner. You can set the desired humidity level in your home and turn the dehumidification on or off. Adjust the dehumidifier setting to be as high as is comfortable to reduce dehumidification run time. If it feels clammy or smells damp or moldy, lower the setting. When vacating your home for an extended period, set the relative humidity to 60% to help prevent mold while minimizing cooling energy use. Raise the setting if you prefer the air to be less dry; lower the setting if you prefer the air to be more dry. Your comfort is the best measure of how to adjust your setting. When first installed, the dehumidifier has to remove all the moisture that is initially in your home. It is not uncommon for dehumidification to operate for an extended period of time when it is first installed.
- Page 10: Ventilation has two temporary events and two permanent modes that can be set. This thermostat can be configured to control fresh air ventilation based on a predetermined hourly schedule. You can temporarily override that schedule to bring in more fresh air or turn it off if outdoor conditions are poor. Ventilation will be constantly energized for 3 hours and then return to Auto or Off depending on the most recently active mode. This option is used when fresh air is needed, for example, to dilute unwanted cooking odors. Ventilation will be constantly energized for 24 hours and then return to Auto or Off depending on the most recently active mode. This option is used when a large amount of fresh air is desired, for example, on a day with desirable outdoor conditions. Auto mode allows ventilation to cycle based on the parameters set by the installer to meet your home’s ventilation requirements. Off mode means ventilation will not run.
- Page 11: Understanding program schedules The daily schedule is split into four sections: Wake, Leave, Return, and Sleep. Wake: Temperature you would prefer to wake up to. Leave: Temperature when you are away from the house. Return: Temperature you would prefer to return home to. Sleep: Temperature you would prefer while sleeping. The start time and temperature of each section can be changed to fit your schedule. We recommend these settings, since they can reduce your heating/cooling expenses. The fan program is pre-set to Auto for all events. The times and temperatures shown in Table 2 are the defaults.
- Page 12: Progressive Recovery allows pre-heating or pre-cooling prior to a scheduled event to reach the desired temperature. You can turn the schedule on or off and make changes from the Schedule option in the Main Menu. The event start time, temperature, fan mode, and controlling sensor can be adjusted for each event of each day. When the schedule is turned off, the thermostat will continue to control at the current temperature setting. Select Modify to change default schedule settings for weekdays and weekends. You can select the group of days or specific day you would like to modify. Adjust Wake details including Start, Heat, Cool, and Fan settings. The heat will turn on prior to the wake time to ensure the temperature reaches the set point by the event start. Example settings include a wake time of 6:00 am with a heat set point of 70°F. Make adjustments for each day as needed.
- Page 13: Heat Blast will raise the current room temperature 3°F to 5°F based on the installer set-up, and then resume normal operation. To activate Heat Blast, select Heat Blast from the Menu, and use the Select button to set the toggle to ON. The Heat Blast button is only available if it is enabled in the Installer Setup and the thermostat is in Heat or Emergency Heat mode. To cancel Heat Blast, select Heat Blast from the Menu, and use the Select button to set the toggle to OFF. If you modified a group of days, you can Save & Exit back to the Home screen. If you modified a single day, you can copy the settings to another day or group of days. If you choose to copy, you will see a confirmation message. You can return to the Confirm Schedule Change menu to make changes to another day by selecting Edit More Days. You can return to the Home screen by selecting Save and Exit. Modify menu to make changes to another day.
- Page 14: Program schedule holds Temporary hold A temporary hold can be set from the Hold option in the Menu. The end time of the hold can also be adjusted from here. Display can be disabled during sleep for light sensitive locations. Change temperature scale from Fahrenheit to Celsius. The temporary hold can be canceled from the Hold option in the Menu. Reset expired service reminders. Locks controls to prevent tampering. This energy saving feature allows you to suspend the programmed schedule for an extended period of time. If you return earlier than expected, turn off the Vacation hold from the Vacation option in the Menu to resume the programmed schedule.
