Frost thermostat

Application

The ATF is a clamp-on pipe mounting frost thermostat. The thermostat is supplied compete with a spring ﬁxing stap for use

with pipework from ½ to 2 “.

Fixing the thermostat

Ensure that the pipe surface to which the thermostat is to be clamped is clean and free from paint and rust.

Place the thermostat on the pipe, securing one end of the spring ﬁxing strap to one of the ﬁxing lugs on the

thermostat. Stretch the spring strap around the pipe and clip over the un-used ﬁxing lug on the thermostat.

It is important that the spring strap holds the thermostat tightly to the pipe. Cut oﬀ any surplus spring strap using

a pair of side cutting pliers.

Remove the thermostat cover, take the ﬂexible cord through the gland plate and terminate the core of the ﬂexible

lead on the appropriate therminals on the thermostat, noting that,

Terminal 1-2 : Break on rise of temperature

Terminal 1-4 : Break on fall of temperature

It is important that the product be earthed.

Setting the thermostat

Set at minimum 200C

Technical speciﬁcations

Temperature range: 20-900C

Switching Diﬀerential: 8K

Voltage rating: 220/240 Volts AC 50Hz

Current rating: 15 (2.5) Amp

Switching action: SPDT

Note:

This unit has been calibrated to switch on the temperature fall

at the dial set value, in order to provide frost protection.

Wiring Detail:

The unit must be installed by a competent electrician and

the installation should conform for the current IEE Wiring

Regulations. An Earth conection is required.

What do terminals 1-2 and 1-4 mean on Danfoss ATF Clamp-On Mounting?

Terminal 1-2 breaks the circuit when temperature rises. Terminal 1-4 breaks when temperature falls.

How do I install Danfoss ATF on my pipe?

Clamp the thermostat to clean pipework using the spring fixing strap.

Clean the pipe surface to remove paint and rust.
Place the thermostat on the pipe and secure one end of the spring strap to a fixing lug.
Stretch the strap around the pipe and clip it over the other lug.
Tighten until the thermostat holds firmly to the pipe.

How do I wire Danfoss ATF to my heating system?

Thread the flexible cord through the gland plate and connect cores to the appropriate terminals based on your switching needs.

Remove the thermostat cover.
Pass the flexible cord through the gland plate.
Connect the core to terminal 1-2 for break on temperature rise, or to terminal 1-4 for break on temperature fall.
