  • Page 1: Sensi smart thermostat Manual operation Models: 1F87U-42WF, ST55 Version: November 2024
  • Page 2: Table of contents Buttons and icons Basic functionality Manual settings Menu configurations Wiring terminals Back of the face plate Sensi smart thermostat operation guide
  • Page 3: Basic functionality Switching system mode allows you to switch between all available system mode settings. When the mode is off, the thermostat will not activate heating or cooling systems. Fan mode lets you circulate the indoor blower by switching it to on. Turn the fan back to auto for thermostat-controlled operation. Holding one temperature requires turning the schedule off and adjusting the set point with the arrow buttons. The thermostat will maintain this temperature until the schedule is turned back on or the set point is adjusted again. Temporary hold allows you to change the temperature while the schedule is on. The thermostat will display Temporarily Set To and hold the new temperature until the next scheduled set point, with a minimum hold time of two hours.
  • Page 4: Basic functionality Circulating fan You can set the circulating fan feature in the app or at the thermostat. A percentage indicates how often the fan should run each hour, with 5% increments from 10% to 100%. If you set the circulating fan to 50%, the fan will run 30 minutes every hour. If any heat/cool cycles occur during the hour, their runtime is subtracted from the overall fan run time. Setting the feature from the thermostat involves navigating through the menu to adjust the fan percentage. To turn Wi-Fi off, you can manually set a time and schedule from the wall unit. Press Menu and navigate to Wireless (Setup) to change the Wi-Fi setting to Off.
  • Page 5: Manual settings Setting the time manually When connecting the thermostat to Wi-Fi, the time will sync automatically. If not connecting to Wi-Fi, follow these steps to set the time at the thermostat. Setting a schedule When connecting the thermostat to Wi-Fi, the schedule is programmed based on time and temperature set points from the Sensi app. If you are not connecting to Wi-Fi, follow these steps to set a basic 7 day schedule with 4 mandatory set points.

  • Page 7: Menu configurations allow you to change settings to customize the thermostat for your specific system. It is recommended to download the Sensi app and follow the installation instructions when installing the thermostat for the first time. You can manually configure your thermostat if you are experiencing an issue or want to check system configurations. The configuration menu includes items such as display code, menu item, default, and options. Wireless setup connects the thermostat to the Wi-Fi network. Temperature settings can be adjusted between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Options for cooling include conventional cooling stages and heat pump configurations. The reversing valve position can be selected for heat pumps. Dehumidification settings include optimal dehumidification and comfort modes. Wireless radio can be turned on or off for Wi-Fi connectivity.
  • Page 8: Wiring terminals define the connections on the sub-base of the thermostat. Terminal outputs include labels such as RH, RC, C, G, Y, Y2, W/E, W2, O/B, and L. RH provides power for heating at 24V. RC supplies power for cooling at 24V. C is the common wire at 24V. G controls the indoor blower (fan). Y indicates the first outdoor stage cooling or first heat and cool on heat pump systems. W/E represents the first indoor stage heat or first stage auxiliary/emergency heat on heat pump systems. Wire color may not correspond to thermostat letters; verify connections before removing wires. Take a photo of the old thermostat to document wire colors and terminal letters.
  • Page 9: Back of the face plate shows the jumper wires, battery compartment, and useful information about your thermostat. Necessary for connecting to Wi-Fi. Two AA alkaline batteries are used for back-up purposes. Replace batteries when the battery indicator bar reaches 3 bars to maintain Wi-Fi connectivity. Illustrates whether you purchased the professional or the DIY model. Indicates when your thermostat was manufactured. The 8 digit code is used to add Sensi thermostat to Apple HomeKit. Unique number identifies the thermostat. Only clip the RC/RH internal jumper wire if you have separate RC and RH transformers. Sensi smart thermostat operation guide.
