INSTALLATION AND OPERATING

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

In the winter, set the system switch to HEAT to control your heating
system.

In the summer, set the switch to COOL to control your air conditioner.
Press either the TEMPERATURE UP or DOWN key in order to show
the current SET TEMPERATURE.

Press TEMPERATURE UP or DOWN keys again until your desired
temperature is displayed. The display will show the current room
temperature again after two seconds.
Press the light bulb button to illuminate the display. Adjusting the
temperature will keep the display lit until no button has been pressed for
over ten seconds.

In spring and fall or when windows are open, you can set the system
switch to OFF.
Setting the FAN switch to AUTO automatically runs your system’s fan
during heating and cooling.
Setting the FAN switch to ON runs your system’s fan continuously even
without heating or cooling.

The FAN switch works only if your system provides a wire for the
thermostat’s “G” terminal.

removing any wiring from your existing thermostat, its
wires must be labeled with their terminal designations.
Ignore the color of the wires since they may not
comply with any standard.

This thermostat is designed for use with 24 volt and millivolt systems. Locate the thermostat on an inside wall, about 5 ft. above the floor, and in a room that is used often.
- Page 2: Wiring diagrams are provided for new installations or un-referenced wires. Read instructions carefully before removing any wiring from the existing thermostat. Wires must be labeled before they are removed. When removing wires from their terminals, ignore the color of the wires since they may not comply with any standard. Switch electricity to the furnace and air conditioner OFF before proceeding with the removal of the old thermostat. Remove cover from the old thermostat, which may be snap-on types or have locking screws. Attach labels to each wire for identification and remove wires one at a time. Loosen all screws on the old thermostat and remove it from the wall. Decide whether the thermostat will be mounted vertically or horizontally. Fill wall opening with non-combustible insulation to prevent drafts from affecting the thermostat.
- Page 3: Caution: Do not allow wires to touch each other or parts on the thermostat. Terminated wires must be trapped between the black spacer and brass terminal. Securely tighten all 8 electrical terminal screws. Calibration involves pressing and holding the Up and Down button simultaneously at the CAL selection. Jumper settings require moving the jumper to the appropriate position and pressing the Reset (RST) button after making selections. Temperature swing settings can be adjusted by pressing and holding the Up and Down button at the SWNG selection. The thermostat can be set in horizontal or vertical orientation. The thermostat can be configured for gas or electrical furnace operation. If the blower does not operate after installation, adjust the electric/gas heat jumper. The menu screen provides access to multiple features including calibration, temperature swing, delay, Fahrenheit/Celsius selection, temperature limit, test mode, and exit.
- Page 4: Servicing thermostat Make sure all power is turned off to the equipment connected to the thermostat. Press and hold the Up and Down button simultaneously at the F/C selection. Remove the front plate of the thermostat with a Phillips screwdriver. When a low battery indication is displayed, proceed to replace the batteries immediately. Press and hold the Up and Down button simultaneously at the TLMT selection. Install two new Energizer or DURACELL AA size alkaline batteries in the battery compartment. This mode is also known as Compressor Defeat.
