5. Reattach faceplate to backplate by placing the top of the
faceplate over the top lip of the backplate.
6. Gently swing the thermostat down and press on the bottom
center edge until it snaps in place. This is a tight connection,
but may require a little wiggle to align the pins on the

NT NetX X-Series Thermostat Installation Guide Overview
Summary of Contents
- Page 1: Be sure to avoid locations where freely circulating air is unavailable. Read the entire installation manual for proper operation. The X-Series thermostat is designed for new or replacement commercial or residential applications. It supports up to 3 Heat / 2 Cool heat pumps and 2 Heat / 2 Cool conventional systems. The thermostat features adjustable temporary override times, temperature ranges, and keypad lockout. Available in both Wi-Fi and Ethernet models, the X-Series supports various software tools. The installation includes mounting the backplate and connecting wires from your system to the thermostat. The box includes the thermostat faceplate, communication backplate, anchors, screws, and installation manual. The thermostat should be mounted on an inside wall in a frequently occupied area. Any redistribution or reproduction of the contents is prohibited without express written permission.
- Page 2: Reconnect power to the HVAC equipment to configure your thermostat for operation. Adjust Clock to select between AM/PM or 24H time display. Select between Fahrenheit or Celsius temperature display. Minimum Off Time allows for equipment recovery before turning on again. Temperature Override Range adjusts the variance allowed from the scheduled setpoint when the faceplate is locked. Adaptive Recovery anticipates when to turn on the heating or cooling system prior to the start of a schedule. Select between Conventional or Heat Pump operation. The thermostat is not ready to use until the Thermostat Setup section is completed. Additional settings can be set using built-in web pages or via a cloud interface. Select brightness of the touchscreen display and color options for the display.
- Page 3: Lock Screen The X-Series thermostat can restrict and lockout certain functions available from the faceplate. The Lock Screen can be activated from the HVAC Settings web page on the thermostat. When engaged, you can set a 4-digit pin code that can be used to temporarily unlock the faceplate for 30 minutes. Power Failures This NetX™ X-Series has an internal power backup that will last approximately two days. If the thermostat experiences a power outage less than this time, all functions will resume as soon as power is restored. Remote Sensor Averaging If remote temperature sensors are connected, the X-Series thermostat can either use the remote sensors (default) or can average the remote sensor and the internal temperature sensor. On-board Data Logging with Sub-Metering Support The NetX Platform provides reliable deep-data analysis for runtimes and all thermostat operations. This data can be used to perform sub-metering analysis to bill tenants according to actual HVAC usage for heating and cooling. Programming the Thermostat This NetX™ thermostat product has factory default programs based on energy saving guidelines and recommendations for residential use, and these settings can reduce heating/cooling expense by as much as 33%. Remote Sensors (Optional) If your NetX™ thermostat has been installed with one or more NetX™ remote sensors, the sensor information is available on the small secondary display of the thermostat. LED1 / Filter Indicator If selected by software, the Filter Icon will illuminate when a signal is received from the Terminal LED1 on the Terminal block. This indicates the filter needs to be changed. LED2 / Service Indicator If selected by the software, the Service Indicator icon will illuminate when a signal is received from Terminal LED2 on the terminal block. Auxiliary/Emergency Heat Indicator The thermostat is equipped with Emergency Heat icon in the Main Status Icons area on the faceplate that indicates when the system has engaged auxiliary heat mode or emergency heat mode. Random Restart After a power failure, the thermostat will delay the heating/cooling equipment start-up by 1-24 seconds. When multiple NetX™ X-Series thermostats are used, this minimizes the ‘in rush’ current as it reduces the number of HVAC units that will be turned on simultaneously.
- Page 4: Independent power source specifications include rated voltage of 20V to 30VAC and rated current of 0.05 to 0.75 AC. Temperature control range for heating is 38 to 88°F and for cooling is 60 to 108°F. Thermostat sensing range is from 32°F to 118°F with a control accuracy of ±1°F at 68°F. Minimum deadband is 2°F. Dimensions of the equipment are 5.1”H x 4.7”W x 1.15”D. Equipment terminations include R for 24V switching voltage and W1 for Heat1 or Aux/Emergency Heat. Power terminations specify 24V for remote power and 24V(c) for power common. This thermostat meets the Joint Appendix 5 requirements for certification of the California Energy Commission. The warranty is for five years from the date of purchase with proof of purchase. The equipment complies with Class B digital device limits set by the FCC.
