TROUBLESHOOTING
WHAT IS A ROOM THERMOSTAT
The thermostat is not working.
... an explanaꢀon for householders
- Check the circuit breaker and the control fuse in the power supply circuit.
- Check the cabling.
A room thermostat simply switches the
heaꢀng system on and off as necessary.
It works by sensing the air temperature,
switching on the heaꢀng when the air
temperature falls below the thermostat
seꢂng, and switching it off once this set
temperature has been reached.
The room temperature is different from the required temperature.
- Your room thermostat may have been set up close to a source of heat or on a cold
wall – put it in a recommended locaꢀon, see the “Fiꢂng” secꢀon on page 2 for these
locaꢀons.
The temperature is not being regulated properly.
- Check that the appliance being controlled has been correctly connected up, for
example: valve, pump, boiler.
Turning a room thermostat to a higher set-
ꢀng will not make the room heat up any
faster. How quickly the room heats up depends on the design of the heaꢀng system, for
example, the size of boiler and radiators. Neither does the seꢂng affect how quickly the
room cools down.
If the problem persists, contact your installer.
Turning a room thermostat to a lower seꢂng will result in the room being controlled at
a lower temperature, and saves energy.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The heaꢀng system will not work if a ꢀme switch or programmer has switched it off. The
way to set and use your room thermostat is to find the lowest temperature seꢂng that
you are comfortable with, and then leave it alone to do its job. The best way to do this
is to set the room thermostat to a low temperature – say 18ºC – and then turn it up by
one degree each day unꢀl you are comfortable with the temperature. You won’t have
to adjust the thermostat further. Any adjustment above this seꢂng will waste energy
and cost you more money.
Power supply: 230V AC +/-10%, 50 Hz.
Power consumpꢀon: <0.5 W.
Electronic output: 230 V AC +/-10%, 1A.
Inrush current: 2A max (during 200ms max).
Connecꢀon: using screw terminals for cable 0.5 mm² to 1.5 mm².
Manual temperature seꢂng range: from +7°C to +30°C.
If your heaꢀng system is a boiler with radiators, there will usually be only one room
thermostat to control the whole house. But you can have different temperatures in indi-
vidual rooms by installing thermostaꢀc radiator valves (TRVs) on individual radiators. If
you don’t have TRVs, you should choose a temperature that is reasonable for the whole
house. If you do have TRVs, you can choose a slightly higher seꢂng to make sure that
even the coldest room is comfortable, then prevent any overheaꢀng in other rooms by
adjusꢀng the TRVs.
Standards:
- Safety: Class II.
- Polluꢀon degree raꢀng: 2.
- Overvoltage category III, rated impulse voltage: 4KV.

- Operaꢀon temperature (T40): 0°C to +40°C.
- Storage temperature: -10°C to +60°C.
- Humidity: 80% at 25°C (without condensaꢀon).
- Protecꢀon raꢀng: IP20.
Room thermostats need a free flow of air to sense the temperature, so they must not
be covered by curtains or blocked by furniture. Nearby electric fires, televisions, wall or
table lamps may prevent the thermostat from working properly.
