To install and configure your thermostat correctly, you must use the Sensi app. Create an account When you download the Sensi app, you will be prompted to create an account. This is required to access your thermostat remotely and use all the features Sensi offers.
• Page 3: Installing the Sensi thermostat involves several steps. After downloading the Sensi app and creating an account, you can install the thermostat on your wall and connect it to Wi-Fi. If no thermostats are registered, tap the plus (+) sign to add a thermostat. Choose the appropriate thermostat model, such as the Sensi Touch 2 Smart Thermostat. You can check your model number on the back of the thermostat cover. If your Sensi thermostat is already mounted, select whether it is currently mounted or not mounted. The not mounted option provides a full step-by-step installation process, including identifying and labeling wires. If the thermostat was professionally installed, you can skip to the section on connecting to Wi-Fi. Always select the not mounted option when installing your Sensi thermostat to ensure proper configuration. Selecting the currently mounted option will not automatically configure the thermostat for the correct HVAC settings.

Turn off the power to your heating and air conditioning system before handling your thermostat wires. Remove the cover of the old thermostat using a screwdriver or by pushing the pressure latch. Photograph your wiring as this can be helpful for troubleshooting with technical support. Throw away any jumper wires from your old unit as Sensi has a built-in jumper wire. Choose the terminal labels that have wires attached to them on your old thermostat. The app will inform you if you have a valid configuration. Sensi Touch 2 requires a c-wire for installation. After connecting Sensi, the app will prompt you to register the thermostat by either using the Locate Me option or filling in your address details manually. If a contractor installed your thermostat and is a registered Sensi partner, they can input their phone number. You can proceed by pressing Next if there is no registered number available. Once installation is complete, you can press Start Using Sensi to open the main screen of the app.
• Page 8: Troubleshooting If you’re having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi, here are some tips to try: Make sure the Sensi app is up-to-date and running the latest version available in your app store. Reboot your smart phone. Reboot your router by unplugging it from the wall for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on in your phone settings, and is allowed in the Sensi app permissions. Make sure Location access is turned on in your phone settings, and is allowed in the Sensi app permissions. Try another smart phone or tablet. Simply download the Sensi app and sign into the app using the email address and password you used when you created your account. If you replaced your router or changed your Wi-Fi network password, you will need to reconnect your thermostat to Wi-Fi.
• Page 9: Troubleshooting Blank or flashing display If the touchscreen is blank or only flashes after completing all steps in the Sensi app, the thermostat may not be receiving enough power. Sensi Touch 2 requires a “C” wire to power the thermostat. If you don’t have a wire in the “C” terminal, check out the “C” wire videos for DIY installation. For heat only systems, you may be able to install an external transformer. Ensure the “C” wire is connected to the “C” terminal at both the thermostat and the system. Check the connection of the “C” wire at the indoor HVAC unit's control board. Use a voltmeter to measure the voltage between RH (or RC) and C at the thermostat. Ensure that the voltage is between 20-30VAC for the thermostat to turn on. Make sure the breakers are on and reset them if necessary.
• Page 10: HVAC configuration menu If you want to check that your thermostat’s HVAC settings were configured correctly or you’re experiencing a system issue, refer to the chart for equipment descriptions and options. Select AC or heat pump equipment, as well as the number of stages. Set this to AC1 for single stage systems or HP1 or HP2 for single or multi-stage heat pumps. Select whether the equipment is an electric or gas furnace, or fan only. When you log into your Sensi account with your email address and password, the app will be able to control all the thermostats registered to your Sensi account. If you forgot the password to your Sensi account, click on Forgot Password on the login screen of the Sensi app. If a humidifier is wired to the thermostat, change the Humidifier setting to YES. If a dehumidifier is wired to the thermostat, change the Dehumidifier setting to YES.
• Page 11: Installing multiple thermostats involves following the same installation process in the Sensi app. After installing one thermostat, open the Sensi app and press the + sign to add another thermostat to your account. The Account area allows you to access your email preferences and change your account information. For iOS, tap the person icon in the upper right corner. For Android, tap the three dots in the upper right corner. For problems connecting your Sensi thermostat, contact the Sensi Technical Support team for assistance.
