  • Page 3: Installing the Sensi thermostat requires downloading the Sensi app and creating an account. You will need to install the thermostat on your wall and connect it to Wi-Fi. If no thermostats are registered, tap the “+” sign to add a thermostat and choose your model. Check your model number on the back of the thermostat faceplate. The app will ask if the thermostat is already on the wall, with options for installation or Wi-Fi connection. Choosing No, it needs to be installed will guide you through the entire installation process. Gather all necessary tools for installation, including a Phillips and/or Flathead screwdriver, drill, wire cutter, and possibly needle-nose pliers. The Sensi app provides a step-by-step process for installation. A video overview of the installation is available. Make sure to have all tools and package contents ready before starting the installation.
  • Page 4: Installing the Sensi thermostat requires turning off power to the heating and air conditioning system before handling thermostat wires. Remove the old thermostat cover using a screwdriver or by pushing the pressure latch. Confirm that the power is off by trying to turn on heating or cooling with the old thermostat. Photograph your wiring as it may be helpful for troubleshooting with technical support. Throw away any jumper wires, as the new thermostat has a built-in jumper wire. Choose the terminal labels that have wires attached to them on your old thermostat. The app will inform you if you have a valid configuration based on the selected terminals. A c-wire, or common wire, is required for certain heating and cooling applications. Select the type of system you have for proper installation. Refer to the Sensi website for more information on compatibility and c-wire installation.
  • Page 5: Installing the Sensi thermostat involves several key steps. Label your wires using the provided wire label stickers by removing one wire at a time. After labeling, disconnect the wires and remove the old thermostat base from the wall. Secure the wires with a pencil to prevent them from falling into the wall. Mount the Sensi base to the wall using the provided mounting screws. Once the base is secured, insert the wires into the terminals and tighten the screws. Attach the front display onto the thermostat base. Turn the power to your system back on after installation. Ensure the wires are tucked into the wall and the faceplate is securely in place. Follow video instructions for additional guidance on installation and wire connection.
  • Page 6: Installing the Sensi thermostat involves connecting it to Wi-Fi. If the thermostat needs to be installed, the app will provide installation instructions first. To start the wireless setup, press Menu and then Mode on the thermostat. The Wi-Fi icon will flash when the thermostat is ready for wireless setup. You can name your thermostat using suggested names or a custom name. The Wi-Fi connection process varies based on the device's operating system and Sensi app version. If using an iPhone/iPad, options for Apple HomeKit may be available based on the display. After connecting to the Sensi network, enter the Sensi password to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

This section is part of the installation guide for the Sensi Smart Thermostat.
  • Page 8: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi troubleshooting If you’re having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi, here are some tips to try: Make sure the Sensi app is up-to-date and running the latest version available in your app store. Reboot your smartphone. Reboot your router by unplugging it from the wall for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. Make sure that your phone is connected to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. If you’re on an iPhone, make sure Keychain is On, and Home Data is allowed for the Sensi app. If you’re on an Android, go into your phone’s Advanced Wi-Fi Settings and turn off the “Switch to mobile data” feature. It may be easier to just turn “Mobile Data” off completely for setup. Try another smartphone or tablet. If you replaced your router or changed your Wi-Fi network password, you will need to reconnect your thermostat to Wi-Fi.

  • Page 11: Single stage or multi-stage system (no heat pump) with two transformers. System configuration includes single stage and multi-stage options. Blower operates constantly in cool mode. Heat mode energizes the circulator fan on call for cool. Two transformers systems require clipping the internal RC/RH jumper. Heat pump systems have specific configurations for operation. Blower and circulator fan are energized on call for both heat and cool modes. Dual fuel option de-energizes heat mode for the first stage. Phased relationship is indicated by dots in the system configuration. Internal jumper between RC and RH is located on the back of the thermostat.
