  • Page 2: The device comprises a transmitter and a receiver used to control room temperature in heating systems. Typical applications include homes, residential buildings, schools, and offices. The device can be used with thermal valves, zone valves, combi boilers, gas or oil burners, and pumps. It offers both 2-position and PID intelligent learning temperature control, configurable via parameter P01. The 2-position control algorithm switches the heating system on and off based on the difference between setpoint and measured room temperature. PID intelligent learning control periodically switches the heating system, providing more comfort and energy efficiency. The period time and pulse length of the control signal are determined by the setpoint and measured room temperature.
  • Page 3: Control behavior (P01) The factory setting for control is “PID slow”, ideal for most heating systems. Optimum control can be selected if control does not provide the desired result. 2-position controller with 1 [K] switching hysteresis is suitable for systems with small capacity that appear slow. 2-position controller with 0.5 [K] switching hysteresis provides better comfort than 1 [K] switching hysteresis. PID control behavior for slow heating systems requires longer minimum On times and a limited number of switching cycles per hour. Typical applications for PID slow include wet floor heating systems and oil fired boilers. PID fast is for fast heating systems that tolerate a high number of switching cycles. Typical applications for PID fast include electric heaters with current valve and gas boilers. Do not use PID fast for oil boilers or electric mechanical actuators. When removing the batteries, the setpoints and information required for operating mode changeover are retained for max. 2 minutes.

When ordering, specify both name and product number. Order valves and actuators as separate items. The transmitter consists of 4 parts: Plastic housing with digital display containing the electronics, operating elements and built-in room temperature sensor. There is a reset button on the rear of the transmitter.

  • Page 7: The transmitter is located in a plastic housing. Override allows for temporarily overriding the active value from the sender. Press the OVERRIDE button to overwrite the value for approximately 14 minutes. The value returns to the setpoint after the override period. In a faulty connection, pressing the OVERRIDE button permanently overrides the value. The value returns to the setpoint once the connection is restored. RF LED indicates the state of the radio connection. Different LED colors and flashes signify various states, such as power up and learning period. No RF within the last 25 minutes is indicated by a specific LED state. Manual override is also indicated through the RF LED.
  • Page 8: Relay LED indicates the state of the relay. The transmitter should be mounted on a flat wall, attaching the baseplate first. The transmitter can also be used as a mobile device with its fold-out stand. Mounting the receiver does not require a baseplate; electrical connections should be made first. An EMI filter can be used to reduce EMI disturbance. Disconnect from power supply before connecting the EMI filter. Ensure the EMI filter is out of reach after installation. Set thermostatic radiator valves to their fully open position in the reference room. For commissioning, refer to the operating instructions. The devices are suitable for wall mounting at a recommended height of 1.5 m above the floor.
  • Page 9: Do not mount the devices in recesses, shelves, behind curtains or doors, or above or near heat sources. Avoid direct solar radiation and drafts. Seal the conduit box or the installation tube if any, as air currents can affect sensor readings. If the battery symbol appears, the batteries are almost empty and must be replaced. Simultaneously press the TEST and LEARN buttons on the rear of the transmitter to reset it. The transmitter and receiver are maintenance-free except for the transmitter battery. This symbol or any other national label indicates that the product, its packaging, and, where applicable, any batteries may not be disposed of as domestic waste. Prevent the batteries from coming into contact with water. Use only a battery of the same type and from the same manufacturer as a replacement. Handle damaged batteries only wearing suitable protective gloves.

  • Page 11: Environmental conditions include resolution of settings and displays, setpoints, and actual value displays. Climatic conditions for operation are defined by IEC 60721-3-3, Class 3K5, with a temperature range of 0…+40 °C and humidity below 90% r.h. Transport conditions are specified by IEC 60721-3-2, Class 2K3, with a temperature range of -25…+60 °C and humidity below 95% r.h. Storage conditions are outlined by IEC 60721-3-1, Class 1K3, with a temperature range of -10…+60 °C and humidity below 90% r.h. The product complies with EU conformity (CE) and RCM conformity to EMC emission standards. Safety class is III as per EN 60950-1, with a pollution degree of 2. The degree of protection of housing is rated as IP20. The product environmental declaration contains data on environmentally compatible product design and assessments, including RoHS compliance. Eco design and labeling directives are based on EU Regulation 813/2013 and 811/2013 concerning space heaters. Classes for application with On/Off operation of a heater are Class I with a value of 1% and Class IV for PWM (TPI) room thermostat with a value of 2%.
  • Page 12: General information includes the weight of the RDH100RF/SE, which is 475 g. The housing color is signal-white RAL9003, and the material is ABS with a PC LCD lens. The operating voltage is AC 230 V with a power consumption of less than 10 VA. The frequency range is 50 to 60 Hz. An EMI filter can be used to reduce disturbances. The switching capacity of the relays allows for a voltage range of AC 24 to 250 V and a current of up to 8 A. There is no internal fuse, and external protection with a maximum C 10 A circuit breaker is required. The relay contacts have a maximum switching voltage of AC 250 V and a minimum of AC 24 V. The contact life at AC 250 V is approximately 100,000 cycles. The insulating strength is rated at AC 5,000 V between relay contacts and AC 1,000 V within the same pole.
