Honeywell RLV450 Programmable Thermostat Overview
Summary of Contents
- Page 1: Programmable thermostat user guide Read before installing Installation must be performed by an electrician. All cables and connections must conform to the local electrical code. Install the thermostat about 5 feet high, on an inside wall facing the heater. Avoid locations with air drafts, dead air spots, or direct sunlight. The thermostat wires are not polarized; either wire can be connected to the load or to the power supply. Always keep the thermostat's vents clean and unobstructed. This programmable thermostat can control various electric heating systems. The thermostat cannot be used with certain resistive loads or central heating systems. Supplied parts include one thermostat, screws, and solderless connectors.
- Page 2: Connect the thermostat wires to the line wires and to the load wires using solderless connectors for copper wires. Early Start can be used in Automatic mode only. When this function is enabled, the thermostat calculates the optimal time to start heating. Select 15-second cycles in most cases as it provides better temperature control. The settings are locked. The temperature adjustment buttons only allow you to view the temperature setpoint. The thermostat can automatically re-adjust its clock at Daylight Savings Time changeover. The function is disabled (default setting) when the clock loses its setting. The configuration switches are on the back of the thermostat. The thermostat normally displays the actual temperature. To view the setpoint, press the V or W button briefly. To change the setpoint, press the V or W button until the desired temperature is displayed. Return power to heating system.
- Page 3: Using a preset temperature The thermostat has 3 preset temperatures: Comfort temperature, Economy temperature, Vacation temperature. The Comfort temperature is used in periods 1 and 3, and the Economy temperature is used in periods 2 and 4. You can have a different program for each day of the week. To use the Comfort or Economy temperature, press the corresponding button. To store the Comfort or Economy temperature, press and hold the appropriate button for approximately 3 seconds. To modify the schedule, press Pgm to access the programming mode. Automatic mode sets the temperature according to the programmed schedule. During a power outage, settings are stored in memory. Manual mode requires the temperature to be set manually. The schedule consists of 4 periods per day which represents a typical weekday.
