  • Page 3: Packing list includes smart thermostat, user manual, wire labels, thermostat backplate, wall plate, mounting screws, and drywall anchors. Tools needed are a drill with a 3/16 drill bit, Phillips screwdriver, wire stripper, hammer, and pencil.

If none of these indicators are present, continue to the next installation step. Warnings for product installation The MRCOOL Smart Thermostat only works with 24V AC. It does not work with line (high) voltage or millivolt systems.

  • Page 9: Installation Unit installation & wiring Disconnect the old thermostat wires one by one and mark them using the included wire labels. Remove the mounting plate of the old thermostat.
  • Page 10: Installation You may use the provided wall plate to hide any marks or holes on the wall left by the old thermostat installation.
  • Page 11: Installation steps include taking out the labeled wires through the hole in the middle of the backplate. The backplate should be secured using the provided drywall anchors and screws.
  • Page 12: Installation Step 9: Do you have more than one R-Wire? Insert your wires: Insert your single R, R C, or R H wire into the R C terminal.
  • Page 13: Installation Insert the remaining wires into their corresponding terminals from the side. Press terminal block buttons for ease of insertion.

If not, press and hold the Temperature Up and Presets buttons simultaneously until all the buttons vanish. The Bluetooth icon will start blinking, and you can begin the registration process.
  • Page 17: App installation & registration Prior to app installation: Make sure your smartphone's Bluetooth is turned on. Make sure your smartphone's Wi-Fi is turned on. Make sure your smartphone has internet access. Make sure you have a working internet connection on your Wi-Fi router. Make sure there is no proxy server or authentication server configured on your internet connection. Make sure there is no captive portal on your Wi-Fi router. Important: Make sure IP isolation or client isolation is turned off on your Wi-Fi router.

Users can search for the Smart HVAC app or scan a provided QR code. Existing users should log in to the app, while new users need to create an account using the sign-up option.

Note for Android users: For Android OS 8.1 and above, location permission is required to complete the registration process. You may disable it later. Device registration: iOS / Android Open the MRCOOL Smart HVAC app, tap Add Device on the home screen, and select Smart Thermostat from the list of devices.

  • Page 21: App installation and registration involves giving necessary permissions and tapping Continue. Your thermostat will appear on the screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to link your Smart Thermostat with the Smart HVAC app.

  • Page 25: Unit overview On-device controls Changing the mode of your HVAC system involves touching the menu button once and using the up or down button to select the mode. Changing the fan settings requires touching the menu button twice and using the up or down button to change the fan settings. Locking or unlocking the display interface is done by touching and holding the Temperature Up and Down buttons simultaneously until the lock icon changes. Resetting the Wi-Fi of the smart thermostat involves touching and holding the Temperature Up and Hold Settings buttons until the Wi-Fi icon disappears. A stable Wi-Fi icon indicates the device is connected to the internet and shows Wi-Fi strength. A Wi-Fi icon with a small triangle means the device is connected to the router but has no internet access. A blinking Bluetooth icon indicates the device is in broadcast mode, and the registration process needs to be completed.
  • Page 26: Unit overview MRCOOL warrants that the Smart Thermostat will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for three years from the date of delivery. If the product fails during the warranty period, MRCOOL may repair or replace it at its discretion. Repair or replacement may involve new or refurbished products. If the original product is unavailable, MRCOOL may provide a similar product. Repaired or replaced products are covered for either ninety days or the remaining warranty period. The warranty is non-transferable and does not extend with ownership transfer. Conditions for claiming the warranty include notifying MRCOOL and following return shipping instructions. The warranty does not cover products marked as sample or sold AS IS, or those subjected to modifications or misuse. MRCOOL disclaims all express, implied, and statutory warranties beyond the limited warranty. MRCOOL is not liable for any consequential or incidental damages related to the warranty or product.
  • Page 27: Unit overview Troubleshooting If your MRCOOL Smart Thermostat doesn't turn on, try these steps: Check the backplate wire connections and ensure they are inserted properly into the terminals. In the case of one R-Wire, make sure it is inserted into the RC terminal. In the case of more than one R-Wire, make sure RH is inserted into the RH terminal and RC or R is inserted into the RC terminal. Need help?
